Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups seedless watermelon, cubed and frozen
- 1 cup ice cubes
- Juice of 1 lime (optional)
- A few fresh mint leaves (optional)
- 1 tablespoon honey or agave (optional, based on sweetness)
- Optional: 1 shot of white rum or tequila for an adult version
Instructions
- Prep the watermelon: Cut your seedless watermelon into cubes and freeze them for at least 2 hours. This gives the slushie its thick, icy texture without needing too much extra ice.
- Load the blender: Add the frozen watermelon cubes, ice, lime juice, and any optional ingredients (mint, honey, or alcohol) to your blender.
- Blend until smooth: Start on low speed and gradually increase to high. Blend until you reach a thick, slushie consistency. If it’s too thick, add a splash of cold water to loosen it up.
- Taste and adjust: Taste the slushie and add more sweetener or lime juice if needed.
- Serve immediately: Pour into chilled glasses, garnish with a mint sprig or watermelon wedge, and serve right away.
Notes
Avoid overloading the blender. It’s better to work in batches if making a large quantity. And always taste before sweetening—watermelon sweetness varies wildly.
