Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ripe peaches, sliced (plus more for garnish)
- 6 cups water
- 4 black tea bags (or 1 tablespoon loose-leaf black tea)
- 1/3 to 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- Juice of 1/2 lemon (optional, for brightness)
- Ice cubes
- Fresh mint (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Make the Peach Syrup: In a saucepan, combine sliced peaches, sugar, and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then simmer for 10-15 minutes until peaches are soft and syrupy. Mash slightly to release flavor.
- Strain the Syrup: Pour the peach mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or pitcher. Press the fruit gently to get all the juice, but don’t force pulp through. Discard the solids or save for a dessert topping.
- Brew the Tea: Bring the remaining 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add tea bags, and steep for 5-7 minutes. Remove the bags and let the tea cool slightly.
- Combine: In a large pitcher, mix the peach syrup and brewed tea. Stir in lemon juice if using. Chill in the fridge for at least an hour.
- Serve: Pour over ice, garnish with peach slices and mint. Sip slow. Enjoy your homemade peach iced tea.
Notes
Don’t rush the cooling process. Warm tea plus ice just waters it down.
