Ingredients
-
3–4 crisp apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji work best)
-
½ cup store-bought soft caramels (about 15 pieces)
-
1 tbsp heavy cream or milk
-
¼ cup crushed peanuts (optional)
-
¼ cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
-
¼ cup crushed pretzels or graham crackers (optional)
-
Toothpicks or cocktail skewers
Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Apples
-
Wash and dry the apples thoroughly.
-
Slice into bite-sized chunks or ½-inch thick slices, removing cores.
-
Insert a toothpick or skewer into each piece.
Step 2: Melt the Caramel
-
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine caramels and heavy cream.
-
Stir constantly until smooth and fully melted (about 5 minutes).
-
Remove from heat and let it cool slightly—it should be thick but dippable.
Step 3: Dip and Decorate
-
Dip each apple piece halfway into the caramel.
-
Roll or sprinkle with toppings like peanuts, chocolate chips, or pretzels.
-
Set on parchment paper to cool and firm up for about 10–15 minutes.
Notes
Don’t skip drying the apples—this one step can make or break the final look and stickiness of your caramel.
