Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. This takes about 3-5 minutes.
- Add Egg and Vanilla: Crack in the egg, pour in the vanilla, and mix until fully combined.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Slowly add this to the wet mixture, beating until just combined.
- Shape Cookies: Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough and roll them gently in your hands. Flatten slightly and place on the baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
- Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are just turning golden. Don’t overbake unless you like crunch.
- Cool: Let them rest on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Don’t skip the room temperature butter. Cold butter won’t cream properly, and melted butter will wreck the texture.
